Mr. LHS will take place on Feb. 19 and will be held in the Theater.

Boys of every grade compete in a pageant to determine who should be nominated as Mr. LHS, similar to a beauty pageant, Ms. America, or Ms. Universe.

“20 to 30 boys that represent a club or a sport are usually nominated by their peers. For example, Mr. Tennis or Mr. Senior,” Senior Principal Tim Jones said.

The men of LHS will go through three competition and elimination rounds. The boys will dance together and give a short introduction of themselves. After that there will be an elimination round and the last ten boys standing will put on a fashion show.

The boys will then be judged and five will be eliminated, the final five boys with go into a talent and question-and-answer competition. The judges will then vote and determine the winner and this year’s Mr. LHS.

“I thought entering would be a great experience and I think its a good way to show Lafayette and the community what I’m about,” Mason Smith, junior, said.

Smith believes Mr. LHS isn’t just spectacle for the community, but is a good way for the boys of LHS to express themselves and show the student body a different side of them.

“The Pageant has been going on for over 20 years and we feel a Pageant is a great way to raise money for the Junior class; it’s a different kind of entertainment” Jones said.

For a fun evening of men competing in a pageant come to the Theater on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. for this year’s Mr. LHS.
