Every day people walk through the halls wearing the latest fashion trends and spreading the word on the latest designers and trends. Lafayette has been hit with this “Fashion Bug” and students are fueling the fire.

On Wednesday, March 11, Fashion Merchandising and Fashion Club students are putting on their annual Fashion Show, All Around the World.

The show  features original designs by students, thrift store redesigns, sponsored prom dresses and even men’s clothing. It’s primarily a fundraiser for multiple non-profit organizations, including South Broadway Art Project and Refresh, as well as a showcase for the season’s newest fashions.

Designer, model and producer Jordan Miller provided a behind-the-scenes look of how this idea was born and what inspired it.

“Our theme came from the lack of culture [expressed] in our school,” Miller said, “It was just an idea that we wanted to become reality.”

Co-producer Michelle Poynter has predicted what will be trending next season.

“Plato’s Closet and Men’s Wearhouse is extremely trendy right now,” Poynter said.

They’re even going the extra-mile to give out free admission in exchange for a donated clothing item. Those who refuse to get rid of anything in their closet, the cost is $5 at the door.

From skirts to shoes to rompers, the Lafayette Fashion Show will show off clothes worth raving about, not just for the sake of fashion, but also for the benefit of the stores that contributed to making a group of students’ dream a reality.
