On Nov. 23, Scott and Nancy Almstedt, members of Rockwood’s custodial staff, died in  a car accident. Scott worked as the night-lead custodian at Lafayette, while Nancy was a custodial trainer for the Eureka quadrant.

“The loss of both Scott and Nancy has a tremendous impact on many, especially those colleagues who worked closely with both of them,” Superintendent Eric Knost said in a staff email on Nov. 24.

Principal John Shaughnessy is confident that Rockwood will be there to support those in mourning.

“Anytime you have a tragedy it takes time. People react differently and it takes time for people. Different process are in place for people to get help, to be helped, and I think that our school and our district has done a great job at supporting each other after this tragic event,” Shaughnessy said.
