Academic Pep Assembly Preview
March 5, 2015
The annual spring Academic Pep Assembly is only one week away. It will be held on Tuesday, March 10 during school.
“This year specifically I think that kids can look forward to a lot more entertainment-wise and so it’ll be a little bit more bearable because reading names takes a long time. I think this is going to be way more entertaining,” junior Renaissance Student Steering Committee member Callahan McAndrew said.
According to Renaissance Student Steering Committee sponsor Michele Rodgers, there will also be student skits and multiple groups performing at the assembly.
“The theme is LouTube Rewind, like Louie the Lancer, which is based off of the YouTube rewinds that are kind of popular right now,” Rodgers said.
The Academic Pep Assembly is held to honor National Merit students, Bright Flight students, the academic leaders in each class, most-improved students from all grades, Students of the Month, Staff Persons of the Month, Teacher of the Year finalists and the Teacher of the Year.
There will be no change to the order of classes, but 1st Hour through 4th Hour will be 42 minutes long and 5th Hour through 7th Hour will be 40 minutes long instead of the usual 49 minute classes. Lunches are the same length and classes will be over for the day at 2:17 p.m.
The assembly will start at 1:12 p.m. and will go until 3:05 p.m. when school ends for the day. There will be no bells for 7th Hour or the assembly.
