Lafayette to celebrate 3rd annual Hats on Day

Lafayette will be participating in the nationwide fundraiser, Hats on Day on Friday, March 7. Hats on Day is supported by Friends of Kids with Cancer.

Founded in 1955 by four sixth graders at Henry School in St. Louis, the kids began the fundraiser when their friend Kevin Beffa was diagnosed with cancer. Hats on Day was planned to support Beffa during his battle with cancer. Unfortunately days before the event he sadly passed away.

Hats on Day now celebrates their 18th Anniversary in memory of Beffa.  This will be Lafayette’s 3rd year participating in it.

The community service class taught by Scott Beaver will be in charge of the fundraiser.

According to Beaver, in order to wear a hat, faculty and students must purchase and display their “Hats on Sticker” the day of March 7. Stickers can be purchased during all lunch shifts on Wednesday, March 5 and Thursday, March 6.
