Lafayette music department savors successful weekend at State

This past weekend, the LHS music department enjoyed great success at the State Solo and Ensemble held at Mizzou.
Members of choir, band and orchestra competed.
LHS Choir had 8 students receive an Exemplary (1) rating, 4 students received an Outstanding (2) rating, and one student received a Satisfactory (3) rating.
As for LHS band, 23 students received an Exemplary (1) rating and two students received an Outstanding (2) rating
17 LHS Orchestra students received an Exemplary (1) rating, 5 students received an Outstanding (2) rating, and two students received a Satisfactory (3) Rating.
Junior Tony Chang was part of an orchestra string quartet that received a 1 rating.
“My ensemble and I prepared by practicing after school until we had no problems. I was shocked that we received a 1, because we did mess up a few times. Regardless, I am very happy about our success,” he said.
