On Sunday Oct. 7 at noon, roughly 300 students participated in the 12th annual Homecoming Fun Run, sponsored by Renaissance.
David Choate, language arts teacher, said “It is a way to kick off Homecoming by bringing different athletic teams, organizations, and community members together.”
The race is one mile long with specific periods in which participates must walk. Also, runners who got to the LHS Stadium around 11 a.m. received a free t-shirt.
“I liked the Fun Run and the free shirt! I just walked the whole thing, and it was fun. I came in last, proudly; it was great,” said senior Ceci Eklund.
Seniors had the most participants at the run, and therefore resulting in class points for Homecoming Week.
Senior Lauren Matthew said “I was nervous because the Freshmen were tied with seniors for a while so it was pretty sad, but seniors still won! The race was a lot of fun, but I was disqualified because I ran during the walking period.”
“There were so many people; it was great to support Lafayette!” Eklund said.
