All senior women have a chance to learn self-defense skills by signing up for a martial arts self defense class organized by the club Senior Women.
The class will be held on Wednesday Feb. 29, from 6-7:30 p.m. and will be instructed by members of the Missouri Karate Association.
Senior women can sign up with Family and Consumer Science teachers Lauren Arent and Erin Hafflund any time between classes.
Those who attend the class will learn how to defend attacks from the front, back and side.
Hagglund said, “Having hands on experience, I think will be beneficial.”
“You don’t want anything bad to happen, but you want to be prepared if it does,” said Arnet.
