This week, students will be able to purchase stickers in order to wear hats to school on Friday, Oct. 5. The money raised goes toward the organization Friends of Kids with Cancer.
“In addition to being able to wear your favorite hat, you will be helping out a great local organization. The Friends of Kids with Cancer organization is designed to help children cope with the reality of living with cancer,” Scott Beaver, business teacher, said.
Leading up to Hat Day, the stickers will be sold on the stage in the commons during all lunch periods.
Taylor Brennan, senior, said, “We will be selling stickers [the] Wednesday and Thursday [before Hat Day] and each costs $1.”
Many students wear hats to school on a regular basis. This is to conceal their hair loss, which can be a traumatic result of treatment such as chemotherapy.
“When you participate in Hat Day, you will create countless smiles on the faces of many children with cancer as they tackle the many obstacles and difficulties that cancer places in front of them,” Beaver said.
