Hendricks BBQ is located in historic downtown St.Charles, where you can enjoy a relaxing bike ride on Katy Trail, take a stroll by the Missouri river and learn new things about the history of St. Charles. The restaurant is about 34 minutes away from Lafayette, but both the restaurant and town are definitely worth the drive.

The restaurant exhibits a homey theme as the floors, chairs and tables all use the same type of rustic wood. There’s a platform in the middle of the restaurant with tables and a skylight above it to illuminate the dimly lit room. Around the platform, there are plenty more tables and chairs to fit a large group of people.

At 2 p.m. on a Saturday, the place was pretty empty. Fortunately, that meant the food arrived faster and my family and I were able to talk to each other without having to raise our voices. The menu has a good variety of choices, including the new smoked chicken wings that they introduced this year.

One of the things Hendricks BBQ is known for is its barbecue ribs. The baby back ribs have a lot of meat on them and come easily off the bone. The sauce has just enough spice to savor, but not so much that it’s considered spicy. The full rack was 26 dollars, a good price if shared between two to three people. As a person who doesn’t like to get their hands dirty, I can vouch to say that the sticky fingers were definitely worth it.

Overall, Hendricks BBQ was worth the visit. It has a unique style, authentic food and it’s a great place to hang out with family and friends while enjoying an ice-cold sweet tea in a mason jar.

Hendricks BBQ is currently only offering online ordering of their food to be picked up or delivered in order to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19. In addition to this, the restaurant is also only taking payments over the phone or online, eliminating the cash option, checking every employee for fervor prior to every shift, sealing all delivery bags and only including individually wrapped utensils with meals.
