The Last Time I… hit a homerun
September 25, 2015
Driving the ball over the fence is no doubt a common personal goal among all softball players. For Megan Walker, sophomore, this goal has already been met this season.
On Sep. 22 Lafayette faced McCluer North. With the Lancers in the lead 7-2 in the 5th inning, Walker stepped up to the plate with pure confidence. Hitting a solid pitch, Walker hit a home run.
“At first I didn’t even know I hit it over the fence because I don’t look at the ball after I swing. After I rounded first, I saw that it was gone. It was the best feeling,” Walker said.
The Lady Lancers ended with a win, beating the Stars 11-4.
Being a softball player since age 5, Walker has learned what it takes to hit one over the fence.
“I think it’s about not thinking about anything at all. Don’t think about the fundamentals, just play,” Walker said.
When Walker isn’t dominating offensively, she’s defending in the field as either the catcher or third baseman. Walker plays for the STL Prospects when it’s not high school season.
