The Last Time I... Got backstage passes

For junior Allie McGuire, her trip to the Windy City wasn’t just any trip— it was the chance for her inner-fan girl to live her dream.

“My friends and I really like 5 Seconds of Summer and we bought tickets to go see them in Chicago. It was really hard to get tickets, they sold out in literally two seconds. We really wanted to meet them, so we kept looking at Chicago radio stations to see if they were giving out meet and greets,” McGuire said.

After hours of calling radio stations, McGuire’s friend Grace Monroe got the news of a lifetime.

“My friend Grace called and she actually won. It was so weird. She was caller 25, which was the winning call,” McGuire said. “So we took the train up to Chicago, and we got to go hang out with them, and we heard their soundtrack with 15 other people, so it was super up close and personal.”

Full of excitement and emotions, Monroe and McGuire lined up to take a picture with the heart throbs. Yet what happened next was an unforgettable moment for the both of them.

“One of the band members actually tripped my friend Grace which was really funny,” McGuire said. “It was so awkward and we were so freaked out already and then he trips her! But it actually lightened up the mood and we all laughed.”

After Monroe’s tumble in front of the band members, the girls headed over to the theater to rock out with their favorite band.

“We took the picture and they made us leave again and then we went to the concert. The concert was everything I expected,” McGuire said. “It was so fun and the energy was great. It was before they were super famous so it was a smaller theater and just felt so personal.”
