Over the summer, I went to dinner with my friends, who raved about Bailey’s Range, a restaurant that boasts a unique selection of burgers and delicious shakes. I can understand why they don’t mind making the trip. It was so good.

Bailey’s Range is located in downtown St. Louis on Olive Street. While the drive isn’t the shortest, the food does not disappoint. The extra time on the highway is well worth it.

The restaurant is rustic looking, which adds to the excellent dining experience. There are two levels; the bottom level features a bar and one long central table for a more causal dining experience. The upper level has more individual tables. I have sat on the lower level each time I’ve dined at Bailey’s Range.

I’ve returned to Bailey’s Range once since I went last summer. Both times I have ordered the American, a cheeseburger topped with bacon and a fried macaroni and cheese patty. It’s even better than it sounds. I love this burger so much because most of the time, when I go to a restaurant I debate between a burger and pasta; the American combines both.

Other specialty burgers include the Patty Melt, Buffalo, Green Chile and several others. I have yet to talk to someone who was disappointed with what he or she ordered.

Not only is Bailey’s Range known for its delicious burgers, but also milkshakes with ice cream made from scratch. You can pick one of the numerous ice cream or sherbet flavors for a small shake, or combine two for a large. I’ve had a vanilla and espresso shake and it was undoubtedly one of the best I’ve ever had.

The prices aren’t too high, either. Most burgers are around $10 and fries are $2 for a small, which comes with one sauce and $4 for a large, which comes with two sauces. Shakes are $3.50 for a small and $5.50 for a large. The prices can add up, but in my opinion it’s completely worth it.

Bailey’s Range is open from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. from Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Sunday.

If you and your friends or family are looking for a great burger and shake, even if it’s late, be sure to consider Bailey’s Range. I doubt you’ll regret it.
