Through These Halls: Knutson looks forward to directing in One Acts
March 5, 2014
Each year the Lafayette Theater Company (LTC) puts on student run plays entitled One Acts. Students are in charge of choosing scripts, set design, costumes and the directing the characters completely.
One of the student directors is senior Connor Knutson, who will be directing the play Special Guest.
“This will be my first time [directing]. I have never performed anything before; I have always done all of the backstage stuff,” Knutson said.
Knutson’s interest in theater stemmed from the classes he took as a freshman.
“I started off taking the Theatre Arts III: Director’s Studio class which is how you get involved in One Acts. Theatre III is all about directing,” he said.
This year’s production of One Acts is run a little differently due to a change in timing. Because the aforementioned Theater III class took place in first semester instead of second semester, not everybody was given the opportunity to direct. This led to students voting for who would be directing, and Knutson was one of the students chosen.
Knutson hopes his experiences with the LTC will contribute to his future after high school where he wishes to become a drama teacher.
“I‘ve been involved in theater since my freshman year and its just something I really enjoy doing,” he said.
