Mike Swisher, junior and guitarist/singer, describes the last time he performed music onstage as amazing, euphoric and an adrenaline rush.

“I felt like I was the center of the world,” Swisher said.

Swisher’s last performance was in Washington D.C. He attended a week long rock music camp called CampJam in August 2014 that ended with a musical performance. Swisher’s band was called ManChild and they performed Foo Fighter songs including Monkey Wrench, Let it Die and February Stars.

Other more casual settings he enjoys performing in have been the halls in the morning and at lunch during school. Swisher played for tips to help a friend who could not afford a guitar purchase one.

Swisher’s favorite songs to play live include Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton on acoustic guitar and Mother by Danzig on electric guitar.

Swisher admitted to feeling comfortable on stage.

“The thing is that it is not comfortable until you push yourself to be the center of attention. Make it obvious that you’re on stage. Communicate with the audience with words, actions and most importantly with your music. Basically, go crazy. You’re a rock star,” Swisher said.

Swisher finds other opportunities to perform in Lafayette’s Thursday Jam Band, at Lafayette’s Coffeehouse in the Commons on Nov. 5 and at Hartford Coffeehouse regularly, with Nov. 29. as an upcoming date.
