Out and About: Windowsills Cafe and Marketplace

Out and About: Windowsills Cafe and Marketplace

Upon its opening this year, Windowsills Cafe & Marketplace has been amongst my favorite places to eat. Located in the heart of Ellisville, at the intersection of Clarkson and Clayton, the name speaks for itself. Windowsills is a cafe and marketplace, specializing in BBQ. They also have delicious sides such as baked beans and potato salad. My personal favorite food item is the pulled pork sandwich, slathered in sweet barbecue sauce, with a side of macaroni and cheese, complete with buttery bread crumbs sprinkled on top.

Windowsills works as a counter-service cafe, where people can order at the counter and can either choose to take their food on the go or eat inside.

Not only does Windowsills Cafe & Marketplace have delectable lunch and dinner items, but the little restaurant excels in bakery items as well. Their stock includes a variety of pies, cakes and tarts. Amongst my favorites is the Apple Pear Crumb Pie, which has a mixture of brown sugar, apple slices and pear slices, making it a delicious dessert that is sure to cater to people with a sweet tooth.

As stated in the name of the eatery, Windowsills is a market as well. They sell items such as Belgian chocolate, an assortment of jellies and different barbecue sauces and flavorings. All of the market items are located on a large wall on the side of the restaurant, which is made to look like a set of windows, complete with real shutters.

The atmosphere of Windowsills is extremely homey. With dining room tables and chairs complete with tabletop decorations, diners feel as if they are enjoying a home-cooked meal in their own home. Windowsills even offers family platters for those who come in and want a large assortment of food for their families.

Windowsills is a restaurant for all occasions. Whether you are on a lunch break and need a quick meal, meeting with a few work associates, or just grabbing a bite to eat with your family, Windowsills Cafe & Marketplace is the perfect place.
