Entering Oceano Bistro in Chesterfield, my expectations were relatively low. I was expecting average seafood and decent décor; I couldn’t have been more wrong.

Upon arriving, I was seated at a table with a perfect view of the beautiful patio. Tons of tables and couches had strings of antique lights above them. On the patio was a picturesque scenery with a waterfall and well-kept greenery.

The overall environment was very welcoming–the service was pleasant but not overbearing and the food was spectacular.

I got New England clam chowder as an appetizer and it was better than in the upper East Coast. For my main course, I got jumbo scallops over a canopy of portabella mushrooms in citrus basil butter, which was a treat for my taste buds.

Though Missouri is not famous for quality seafood, Oceano’s selection and quality ranging anything from prawns to mussels to lump crab cakes was impressive to say the least.

Prices are not astronomical, but seafood anywhere is pricey.  Oceano is stellar for special occasions.

If you are looking for a delicious seafood dish and a great overall experience, Oceano’s is the place for you.
