Out and About: Chesterfield Valley Chick-fil-A closing temporarily while expanding

On September 14, the Lafayette Renaissance Sponsor Chick-fil-A’s restaurant in the Chesterfield Valley will be closing for renovations. The location has set records in the past for speedy service and is hoping to change the restaurant to allow them to move even faster.

Chick-fil-A, who hold annual fundraiser for Lafayette and other Rockwood high schools,  is a large fast food franchise made famous for it’s fried chicken. They serve everything from nuggets to sandwiches, but also sell lighter fare such as grilled chicken strips and salads. Though a little more expensive than other fast food options, with their chicken sandwich costing nearly $2 more than a McDonald’s Big Mac, they are more nutritious than the Big Mac, having only 440 calories, compared to the Big Mac’s 1090.

The Chick-fil-A in “The Valley” can normally fit 130 customers at a time, but the quickest way to get their product is their record winning drive-thru. The Chick-fil-A holds the Chesterfield record for most cars served through a drive-thru in one hour, at 192 cars in an hour. This means that it took the servers roughly 18.75 seconds  to serve each car.

This extreme speed, however, is one of the main reasons for their new upcoming renovations. Work will be done to the restaurant and it’s kitchen, as well as increasing their single lane drive thru to a double lane. Renovations will begin September 14, and will be finished near the beginning of October. While the renovations are going on though, chicken lovers can still get their fix at the nearby Manchester and Des Pres locations.

A new Wendy’s has recently been opened on the same street as Chick-fil-A in the Chesterfield Valley as well.
