Lafayette’s annual Thursday Night Live (a parody of Saturday Night Live with skits written by students) is coming up soon, under the supervision of Natasha Toro, drama teacher. In addition to teaching, Toro has performed in various shows in St. Louis. LHS Image interviewed Toro about her experience and love of performing on stage.
Q: What inspired you to start acting?
A: Since I was eight, my mom was putting me in theatre camps, and I kind of just started auditioning and doing stuff outside of school and outside of my house and just fell in love with it.
Q: What has been your favorite play or musical or skit at Lafayette?
A: I probably will say Noises Off!, because it was my first show and it was a big show and it was very, very funny.
Q: What’s been your most memorable moment or experience onstage?
A: I don’t know… there’s so many… The last play I was in… my dress completely ripped while I was backstage and I was going on as it ripped, so I had to come up with creative ways to not show the audience that my backside was showing.
Q: What is your dream role or musical you’d like to be in?
A: Maureen from RENT.
Q: Do you have any advice for students who’d like to act, or what they want to do in general?
A: Just keep going! You’re gonna hear a thousand “no’s” before you get that one “yes,” and that’s gonna be the one “yes” that takes you somewhere.
