This year, junior Emily Bush has made a unique New Year’s resolution: to take a picture of something in her life every day and post it online. The idea, called Project 365, gained popularity on Facebook.
Bush said, “I got this idea from other people that had done it before me, and I thought it would be a cool way to remember the year. My inspiration was pretty much the fact that I got a new camera for Christmas, and I wanted to do something fun with it.”
She continued, “Mostly I decided to do a project 365 after taking pictures of my friends. My friends and I had so much fun doing little photo-shoots, so I thought it would be cool to have pictures from every single day.”
Starting with Jan. 1, Bush has posted photos for her friends to see. “Usually I post a picture that I have taken that day. But if I don’t have time, I put up an old picture of something that I really liked, “ she said.
She added, “I like to take pictures of various things; everything and anything in my life.”
Her pictures range from shots of friends and old vacation photos to more abstract color swirl photos using glow sticks.
Although it is still early in the year, Bush is confident that she will keep up with the project and add one photo per day for the rest of the year.
Her ultimate goal is simply to create memories.
She said, “Hopefully by the end of this I’ll end up with a collection of everyday pictures that I can look back on and remember the year by. Its like a memory book of 2011.”
