Note folding made easy

With how common writing a note to a friend has become, one might want to find a way to add a little extra to their letter.  Folding the paper into a fun shape, like a small square, is the perfect way to do this.  Plus, there is no tape or staples necessary, so it’s easy to do whenever you have some free time in class.

1)      First, write your note on one side of the paper, so no writing will show when you fold it.

2)      Fold the paper hot dog style, so that the two long ends are lined up.

3)      Fold it hot dog style again. Now you should have a long, thin rectangle.

4)      Fold the left short edge of the rectangle up to meet the top of the paper. Fold the right short edge to the bottom edge of the rectangle. The paper should look like a parallelogram, where the two edges of the triangle are parallel.

5)      Then fold each end triangle over diagonally again. To do this correctly, the innermost edge of each triangle must touch either the top or bottom of the main rectangle. When both triangles are folded, the paper will look similar to an “S” that has been turned 90 degrees counterclockwise. Each end of the paper will look like another parallelogram.

6)      Next, take each end parallelogram and fold it straight over the side of the parallelogram that is closest to the middle of the paper. Fold one side in front of the square and one behind.

7)      Once the paper has a square with one triangle sticking out the top and one triangle sticking out the bottom, fold the two triangles toward the inside. Take the first triangle and fold it over the middle square, underneath the main triangle opposite it, and tuck it into the square. Then, flip the paper over, take the last triangle, and do the same, tucking the end triangle underneath the middle triangle opposite it, and tucking it into the note.
