Since beginning the novel Invisible Monster by Chuck Palahniuk just days ago, sophomore Tawnnie Crisante has lived within its pages, reading the book whenever and wherever she can.
“It’s about this girl who used to be a model and got in a really bad accident and got her face ripped off so now she’s ugly, has nothing, her fiancee broke up with her, and she has only one friend,” Crisante said.
Usually not a dedicated reader, Crisante relies on the recommendation of her peers to begin a new novel. However when she does, she favors those in the mystery category.
Though for this specific piece, she was influenced by Chemistry teacher Ryan Bixby.
“I read some stuff but it depends. But when Mr. Bixby was talking about the book it sounded interesting,” Crisante said.
The book falls under no exact genre, and is not part of series but Crisante does recommend it to other students looking for a good read.
“It’s interesting, especially for the kids that go here,” she said.
