One the easiest things in sports and even has the word free in it can sometimes drive even the best basketball player crazy. The average free throw percentage for a professional basketball player is 73 percent according to NBA.com. Following these tips can help any player improve on your percentage and you ever know even can win a game for the team.

  1. Put your feet shoulder width apart, if you are right handed put your right foot slightly head of your left foot and if you are left headed vise versa.
  2. Receive the ball from the referee and get in to BEEF technique.
  3. BALANCE you body put your body in comfortable but equally balanced position.
  4. Have routine whether it is dribbling the ball around spinning it on your finger this part is something consistent you always do to stay relaxed.
  5. Keep your EYES on the rim choose a spot on the rim on where you want to shoot the ball whether it is the front middle or back of the rim visualizes where you are shooting the basketball.
  6.  Place your shooting ELBOW in a 90 degree angle under the ball and your non shooting hand on the side a guide for the ball.
  7. Take a deep breath and stay relaxed and bend your knees.
  8. Release the ball, keep your arm straight and FOLLOW through with your hand straight at the basketball rim.
  9. Walk back and get on defense because after making the free throw it is time to play some defense.
