On March 15 Rockwood School District (RSD) Superintendent Mark Miles released a statement to faculty, students and parents announcing the closure of school districts within St. Louis City and St. Louis County until April 3, 2020 in an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19, the virus that causes the Coronavirus.

All school activities, including athletic and extracurricular practices, competitions and trips will be canceled during the time schools are closed.

“I believe this assertive action will support the health, safety, and well-being of our community,” Miles said. “As we have witnessed the evolution of this public health challenge, we have been preparing for the continuity of educational services for our students.”

The Rockwood School District Department of Learning & Support Services is preparing to provide students with online resources to allow for learning while school is not in session. 

Terry Harris, Executive Director of Student Services is working to identify distribution sites to continue school-based meals for RSD families. School social workers, counselors and behavior specialists will still be available for students despite the temporary closure as well.

The RSD website will have ongoing updates as well as details about meal distribution sites.
