From Sergeant to educator to grandpa

Msgt. Dave Cugier to retire after 26 years at Lafayette

I want to go out while I still love it instead of calling it a job.

— Msgt. Dave Cugier

September 25, 1973. Just barely 18 in the suburbs of Chicago, Dave Cugier joined the Air Force. After serving for 20 years, Cugier became a teacher at Lafayette where he has been teaching Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) for 26 years.

“I’ve worn a lot of titles in my life: educator and Sergeant and dad and husband and brother and son. But the greatest title of all is grandpa,” Cugier said.
