Roberts reflects on tournament over winter break
The annual Coaches vs. Cancer tournament was held Dec. 27 through Dec. 30. The Lancers won one game against St. Charles West and lost two games during the tournament to De Smet and Marquette.
“Team play as a whole was hard off break. The team didn’t reach their full potential, but I felt they did come back and got comfortable at the end of it,” Head Coach Matt Landwehr said.
Landwehr thought one player in particular played strongly over the break.
“Andre Roberts had a really good tournament offensively and had some really tough assignments on defense too,” Coach Landwehr said.
Senior Andre Roberts agreed with Landwehr and felt as if he played well in the holiday tournament.
Roberts said, “That was the best tournament I’ve ever played in, shooting wise.”
Roberts said as a team, communication and leadership are some areas that need to be worked on in order for the team to have more success later on in the season.
“We just need to talk more, so we all know what play we’re running, who is guarding who or which side of the court we’re on. This tournament was a great learning experience,” Roberts said.
Although the Lancers have only six wins and seven losses, Landwehr is not worried. He knows the difficult teams that the Lancers face will only help his squad is the long run.
“This season is going well, but we need to take it one game at a time. They need to focus on the next play, not even the next four quarters. We play a tough schedule for a reason, it’s all to prepare us,” Landwehr said.
The Lancers’ next game is on Jan. 12 at 7:30 where they will face off against Northwest Cedar Hill.

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
