Individuals advance to Sectionals after strong showings at Class 4 District 2 Meet
October 28, 2016
The Lancers boys convincingly took first at Districts, adding to their string of consecutive wins and their impressive run as the a top Missouri cross country team.
The boys only managed 31 points, winning handily yet again. However, another key statistic from the meet which may go unnoticed it the 0:39 1-5 split. This is key in showing that the boys are able to run together, and that the low gap between the times is an example of their brilliant teamwork.
In first place was Austin Hindman with a time of 16:06.32. The other top finishers for the Lancers include Tommy Laarman in second, Nassim Oufattole in fifth, Nathan Reed in tenth and Harrison Brown in 13th. The top 30 runners advance to sectionals, so both David Golder and Jacob Nickerson advance alongside the top five Lafayette runners.
Brown had some high praise for his two leaders Hindman and Laarman.
He said, “They definitely care a lot about us. What I would like to do like they did is get involved with the (young runners) when they’re young. They weren’t mean seniors that cast us off, so it kind of helped bring us up and make us ready for when we have to leave and when we have to show the younger kids how to run.”
