At 16-3, the Lancer boys volleyball team has been on track with their lofty expectations of being one of the best teams in the state and coming first at State.

At the moment, the team is ranked number three in Missouri and 97 nationally among high school teams.

The team has won many of their games against quality opponents, like 16-3 DeSmet and 10-4 Marquette, both games that were won two sets to none.

Solid individual performances have been a part of the team, as Nick Lavanchy has lead the team with 93 digs and Kade Bontrager has lead the team with 49 kills. Despite these statistics, it has been the effort and chemistry as a team that has set the Lancers apart from the majority of other teams.

Brendan Danyluck, one of the teams assist leaders, said, “Everybody is always there for each other. We can all count on each other to fill our jobs and we hold each other to a high standard to improve us as a whole.”

Fox has struggled through the season, with a 1-10 record, their only win being over 0-15 St. Francis Borgia. To the Lancers, asserting dominance through an impressive scoreline is key.

Their game against Fox is at home on April 26, at 5:15 p.m.
