Since Aug. 1, Lafayette sports have been starting their routine practices to prepare for the upcoming season. Athletes have been participating in conditioning camps throughout the summer to keep them in shape for the season and get ready for their opening game.

Three teams will start their season on Aug. 19. Football starts off first when they take on Timberland at Timberland. The game will start at 7 p.m. and will be the first of five road games for the Lancers this season. Boys soccer also starts on Aug. 19 when they square off with Farmington at Northwest Cedar Hill starting at 4:30 p.m. After a spectacular season last year, with a 23-1-1 record, the team is ready to follow up their record-breaking season with another year to remember. Lastly, softball will face Francis Howell Central at Troy Buchanan starting at 4 p.m.

Other teams that will start up soon include girls volleyball on Aug. 23 when they take on St. Joseph’s, field hockey starts on Aug. 22 and will face Ladue, girls golf will swing into action on Aug. 23 when they face Mehlville at Forest Hills, girls tennis will take the court against Cor Jesu on Aug. 23 and boys swimming will dive into their season on Aug. 25 against Parkway Central.

Be sure to keep an eye on Lafayette athletics this year as teams are looking well prepared to take on the challenges ahead of them.
