Lancers skirmish with Mustangs after loss to Pioneers

Lafayette looks to rebound after a loss to Kirkwood

Lafayette loses their game on Sept 4 against Kirkwood (28-10) dropping their record to 1-2.

Lafayette has struggled to stop the run thus far, as Kirkwood averaged 4.7 yards on 51 carries; Eureka and Hazelwood Central averaged 6.4 and 4.6 yards per carry respectively.

Despite a valiant effort by the Lancers defense with three interceptions, the Pioneers managed to take a 21-0 lead.  This was a lead that they would never relinquish as the Lancers would only score twice with one touchdown and one field-goal. The game would end 28-10 after one more Pioneer touchdown ultimately leading to a Lancer defeat.

Lafayette looks to rebound against Marquette after their loss to Kirkwood, as the Lancers will face off against the Mustangs on September 11. The Lancers will once again face a good rushing team as the Mustangs are averaging 4.5 yards per carry. However, the Lancers will have history on their side as they will try to continue their winning streak against the Mustangs with their seventh straight win in three years.

This will mark Lafayette’s fourth game of the year where they will attempt to improve their record to two wins and two losses.
