Lancers fall just short of Ameritime Tournament title
February 2, 2015
Boys basketball let a 35-28 lead early in the fourth quarter slip away on their way to a 49-45 loss Friday to Hazelwood Central in the championship game of the Ameritime Tournament. The Lancers were able to hold the high-flying Hawks to just 49 points, but a sluggish offense and late-game foul trouble ultimately doomed the Lancers. Senior Cameron Scales led the team with 15 points, 11 of which he scored in the first half. For the Hawks, senior Marcus George led Hazelwood Central with 16.
Senior Brian Boyd said that the loss was mostly self-inflicted, but in the end it’s going to help them get better.
“We just didn’t make our shots,” Boyd said.
The Lancers will get a chance at revenge when they travel to Hazelwood Central on Feb. 24.
