Lafayette looks to keep the ball rolling after beating rival Marquette 27-20.

The Lancers took on an old school approach during their win over the Mustangs by employing a ground and pound offense coupled with stout defensive play. The Lancers attempted only 19 passes compared to their 46 rushing attempts.

Not only did the Lancers rush the ball more than twice as much as they threw it, but this was the first time this season that the Lancers ever rushed more than threw at all.

The Lancers offense had a spark ignited off of the rushing by Tanner Grimm, senior, who rushed for 230 yards on 33 carries with 3 touchdowns. The lancers final score of 27 marks the highest scored by the team as of this game. The defense also showed up in this game totaling 6 sacks as a team and even a rare safety holding the mustangs to 20 points. The Mustangs had scored over 40 points in their previous two contests.

Although it was a close game as the Lancers only edged out the Mustangs with a 27-20 win, it still marks the 7th consecutive win against the rival team.
