Recently Lafayette has been named by Newsweek magazine in the America’s Top 500 High Schools.

Lafayette came in at number 228, higher than any other Rockwood high schools. Newsweek ranked these high schools based on their statistics and percentages in college readiness, graduation rate, how many students are college bound after high school, and how many students live in poverty.

Lafayette also claimed the title of having outstanding ACT Scores from the STL Today website. The ACT scores clocked in at an 87.4 percent for English, 87.5 for Math, 90.8 for Science, and an 87.4 Social Studies.

Among the other local high schools ranked on STL Today were Brentwood High School, Fort Zumwalt East High School, Fort Zumwalt South, Fort Zumwalt West, Francis Howell High, and Lindbergh High School.

Dr. John Shaughnessey, head principal, said he would like to thank our students and teachers for their hard work and reflecting the great programs we have at Lafayette.

“This speaks high volumes for our school to be honored in this way,” he said.
