Voting for freshman officers to take place on August 29

On August 29, freshmen will vote during lunch for who they would like to be their class president, vice president, secretary and treasurer.

Freshmen officers are a group of freshman students voted in by their peers who will be in charge of planning events for the class, spreading news about the events, and being the faces of their grade.

“If I’m at a parent meeting, it’s great to have the officers there to speak on behalf of the class,” Colleen Fields, assistant principal said.

As well as their group duties, each officer has individual jobs. The president and vice president are in charge of running the freshman advisory, as well as helping the principal.

“If I need help with something, the president and vice president are my right hand men. They help me plan events, as well as convey what I want to say to the advisory,” Fields said.

The secretary is in charge of organizing and taking records of meetings and keeping everything in order.

“The secretary is there to help us make sure that what we need to get done, gets done,” Fields said.

The class treasurer is in charge of coordinating events and raising and keeping track of class funds.

“Being apart of freshman office isn’t as hard as older offices, and it’s a great way for students to work on their leadership and see if it would be the kind of job they would like to have in the future,” Fields said.
