The Lafayette wrestling team did well at the Francis Howell tournament last Saturday, winning 1st place in their pool and although, winning wrestling tournaments is a group accomplishment, senior Nick Olejnik was the highlight. Olejnik has done something no other Lancer has ever accomplished before.
As his final year of wrestling for the Lancers nears its end, Olejnik won his 180th match, setting the record for most matches won in a career by a Lancer. Collectivly, Olejnik has now won 185 matches during his career at Lafayette.
When asked how it felt to hold such a prestigious record, Olejnik said “It was really cool, and it was something I never expected, something I didn’t think I would end up attaining.”
Olejnik has received numerous scholarship offers from D2 and D3 schools, but hopes to attend a D1 school. Olejnik has visited the campuses of Mizzou and the Naval Academy.
