New TVs are latest LPO-funded project
Earlier this year, new flat screen TVs were installed in the commons, replacing the older TVs that had been at the school for many years. The TVs where purchased in an effort by Principal John Shaughnessy to beautify the school.
“At the end of the school year the Lancer Parent Organization (LPO), once they’ve payed off all of their bills and what not, they donate money into a wishlist of things I made to put back into the school,” Shaughnessy said.
The LPO raises their money throughout the year by operating the Lancer’s Landing student store, where students can purchase snacks, shirts and other novelties. In the past, Shaughnessy has used the same funds to purchase other things to help beatify the school such as landscaping, murals and the floor mats at the school’s multiple entrances.
As some students have noticed, the signal to the TVs isn’t the best and picture can be blurry. Shaughnessy does, however, have a plan on how to fix that issue in the future.
“When the parents organization gives us more money, I would like to re-do the wiring to the TVs, which has been the same since we installed the old ones years ago,” said Shaughnessy.
All of the now obsolete TVs were donated back into the district where they will be distributed to different schools throughout Rockwood.
Your donation will allow our student journalists to continue their work. You may become a PATRON by making a donation at one of these levels: White/$30, Black/$50, Gold/$100. Patron names will be published on the website and once per quarter on our social media accounts.
