From April 8-12 and April 25- May 2, the End Of Course (EOC) exam schedule will start. Many times the EOC schedule brings confusion for new students and frustration for others.
On the first week of EOCs, EOCs for the biology classes, English I classes and other assorted classes with EOCs will be taking place. The day on which the exam takes place depends on what period the class is for each student.
The following week of EOCs will take place from April 25 until May 2 with EOCs for all Algebra classes, English II classes and other assorted classes with EOCs scheduled by teachers.
One major thing that students should note is that all students with testing classes will eat third lunch.
Whether students have all blocked or standard classes does not apply to the EOC schedule. Each class will have the same amount of time as everyone else, whether standard or blocked.
With EOCs being enough time as a blocked class there will be plenty of time for students to finish their exams but how to prepare for the exams is another question entirely. Many teachers have given students review packets that many students find huge and intimidating.
One teacher who has been preparing his students for this EOC is Jay Buck, history teacher, who has been sharing sample questions, has been utilizing on-line US History Review sites and is providing review guides on his sharepoint site for students to help his students do well on the upcoming exam.
Buck also has advice for students who are overwhelmed and stressing about studying for the EOC.
“Relax, read each question carefully and choose the best response for that question,” Buck said.
When it comes to preparing outside of school students usually get kind of confused with that as well. Buck also has advice for preparing outside of school for the exam.
“Pay attention in class and look over class review guides and term sheets when studying outside of class,” Buck said.
New to EOCs is freshman Jazmine Lich. She has been working hard to prepare for EOCs. By doing those huge packets she feels confident in her abilities for her EOCs and has some advice for those who are nervous for their EOCs.
“Just take a deep breath and believe in yourself. We learn this stuff all year long and if you’re confident in yourself you can do extremely well,” Lich said.
