Starting Monday Feb. 28- March 4, Lafayette will be holding a Canned Food Drive to donate non-perishable and canned food items to Operation Food Search which donates to over 265 food pantries.
The moto for the drive is “Feed Before You Read” in honor of Rockwood Reading week. The goal is to reach 14,000 cans by the end of the week.
Blue collections barrels have been placed in every classroom for students to place their cans, but there are incentives for students as well.
Libaray and parking fines and fees can be waved for a small donation. Simply donate five cans for Library fees and ten for one praking violation, give your teacher your student ID and which category you wish to eliminate.
Items being accepted are: canned meat and tuna, soups, chili, peanut butter, jelly, rice, pasta, beans canned veggies, pasta sauce, hot and cold cereals, powdered milk, canned fruit, juice and juice boxes, baby food, pancake mix, animal crackers, applesauce cups, trail mix packets, nuts, pudding, graham crackers, oatmeal, ravioli, easy microwave meals, canned chicken, peanut butter crackers and granola bars.
Barrels will be collected during 6th and 7th hours on March 4.
ROTC is spearheading the drive with help from other LHS groups.
