Snow is everywhere, more is bound to come but that didn’t stop local Girl Scouts from selling cookies. Saturday, Jan. 15 marked the beginning of Girl Scout cookie sales.
But this brought about a surprise for dedicated consumers.
The familiar names such as Do-Si-Dos, Tagalongs, Trefoils and Samoas are no longer around, but have been replaced by Peanut Butter Sandwiches, Peanut Butter Patties, Shortbreads and Caramel DeLites.
Accoriding to an article on stltoday.com, the reason for the name changes is that “the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri have switched bakeries after 20 years, from Little Brownie Bakers, a subsidiary of Keebler, to ABC Bakers, a subsidiary of Interbake Foods.”
“They can’t just change the names, it’s too confusing,” sophomore Stephanie Campbell said.
Luckily, according to an article in the Post, “Both bakeries are required to offer Thin Mints, Samoa/Caramel DeLites and Peanut Butter Sandwich/Do-Si-Dos each year. The other five cookies on the sales list can change.”
