Students taking Zero Hour classes or participating in after school activities will have to figure out other means of transportation. State budget cuts in have led all Rockwood high schools and middle schools to cut buses. These transportation budget cuts affect the following First Student, Inc., bus routes for the 2010-2011 school year for Zero Hour and all after school activity routes.
“That’s bad for the kids. It could prevent them from extracurricular activities if their parents work and can’t drive [them],” former Zero Hour bus rider junior Katelyn McConnell said.
Though this cut on buses is meant to save the district money, it may prove costly to students and families who will have to dish out their own money for gas.
Students who participate in the Voluntary Interdistrict Choice Corporation (VICC) will still be provided with buses because the state budget cuts did not include VICC.
