On April 6, Rockwood residents will vote on Proposition 5, a $55 million, no-tax increase bond issue.
A special Bond Issue Committee, made up of staff, community members and representative parents from each Rockwood school, designed the proposition which focuses on five SMART priority areas:
- Safety measures and infrastructure
- Maintenance for current facilities
- Additions for classrooms
- Renovations for instructional areas
- Technology infrastructure
If the bond issue is passed, Lafayette will get some of the funds to replace old classroom computers, install additional computers and provide laptops to full-time teachers. It will also supply clicker systems and SMART Boards to classrooms, replace aged network equipment and renovate the outdoor stadium entrance, fencing and restrooms.
In order for the bond issue to pass, there must be a four-sevenths majority at the April 6 vote. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and any registered Rockwood resident may vote. Voter registration is available at any Rockwood school, St. Louis County library, City Hall or online at www.stlouisco.com/elections/VOTER_REG_APP.pdf.

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
