The Lafayette Culinary team took first place in a Gingerbread House competition that was judged at Plaza Frontenac the weekend of Dec. 3.
“We received a medal from L’École Culinaire which is on display in the FACS hallway,” long term FACS substitue Karla Johnson said. “The gingerbread house was auctioned off and purchased by a local dentist,” she added.
Students who worked on the house were seniors Jessica Bax, Sara Duncan, Antonio Jones, Dymond Strong, Charlie Zimmerman, junior Jesse Knickerbocker and sophomore Will Green.
The house stood on a 2×2 foot square, had to be under two feet tall and be completely edible except the display board. It took over three weeks to assemble and only one major flaw occurred.
“The windmill fell apart we needed to deliver it,” Johnson said.
However the problem was fixed in time for the CulinaryTeam to snatch up the title.
