The Rockwood District Art Show took place April 24-25 from noon to 3:30 p.m. at Wildwood Middle School.
Artwork from all Rockwood schools, Pre-K through Grade 12, were included in the show.
The art show was designed to be a visual tour of the Rockwood Art Curriculum, placing art from elementary, middle, and high school students in different areas.
The over 6,900 selected art pieces were chosen based on quality, creativity, and demonstration of curriculum concepts.
Also included in the exhibit were artist demonstrations and activities for younger kids including face painting and chalk painting.
The art show was also co-sponsoring the Electronic Recycling Event with Eco-Cycle LLC.
Visitors were able tp bring items such as laptops, pagers, floppy drives, digital cameras, hard drives, zip drives, and other electronic items. They also had the opportunity to guess the total number of pounds saved from landfills. The person whose guest was closest to the actual number won an 8GB IPod nano.
There may have been a charge to recycle items such as monitors and televisions, but a portion of these fees were donated to the Rockwood School District Art Foundation.
Admission and parking to the event was free and a free shuttle bus ran continuously between Wildwood and Living Word Methodist Church.
