One hundred of the best and brightest students in Missouri were recently named to the Missouri Scholars 100, and among them was senior Alexander Creely.
The Missouri Scholars 100 were chosen based on their high scores in 10 events.
To qualify for a nomination, students must have a GPA of at least 3.75, have taken upper level courses in mathematics, English, foreign language and science, have achieved an SAT score of at least 1,900, have achieved an ACT score of at least 29 and have good attendance.
“Two of the big ones [events] were unweighted GPA and ACT or SAT score. I ended up using my SAT since it was just a bit better using their formula for conversion,” Creely said.
Other events included a list of community service completed with approximate hours spent and a resume.
“I mainly talked about Boy Scouts (including my Eagle Project), Key Club and NHS,” Creely explained.
Creely will go to a luncheon in Columbia with Principal John Shaughnessy on April 25.
“It’s a nice honor,” Creely concluded.
