Underclassmen lead the way to State
The Boys golf team has been on quite the hot streak. Following multiple team wins at the end of the regular season, the team has played very strongly through the post season so far. They took home the District championship, while placing second as a team in Sectional play. This is good enough to earn them a team invite to the State tournament. One of the team’s keys to success has been young talent stepping up a big way for the team. Geoff Ladue was able to nail a hole-in-one at the Sectionals match that turned out to be a huge part of the Lancers final score.
Assistant Coach Matt Steffens had a lot to say about one underclassmen in particular.
“Max Kreikemeier has been our top performer this year, a Sophomore, who has averaged 37.3 strokes per nine holes.” Steffens said.
Strong play like this will definitely help the Lancers chances at attaining a team State championship and possibly a couple people place high atop the leader board.
The squad will be playing next in the State tournament May 15, and 16 at Twin Hills country Club in Joplin, MO.
