Boys and girls cross country stay successful in Suburban West Conference Meet
October 20, 2016
The cross country boys and girls competed in the Suburban West Conference Meet on Oct. 15.
The boys once again did very well, claiming the top three spots and coming first in the competition. Tommy Laarman once again lead the meet with a time of 15:54.90 to come in first place. Following him were Harrison Brown in second, Nassim Oufattole in third, Nathan Reed in sixth and David Golder in tenth. They all averaged mile times of under five and 30 seconds and all finished in under 17 minutes. Overall, the boys only had 22 points and captured their first place by a solid margin.
The girls also did very well, coming in third in their meet. They also had two of the top three finishers in Mollie Rogan, who came in first, and Meg Nicholson, who came in third. However, the rest of the team separated from these two and fell back as a result, coming in 24th, 26th and 27th.
This will be Rogan’s second first place finish in a row.
To stay successful, Rogan said, “Obviously training helps to make you faster, but also a big part of it is sleeping, recovering, eating right. I focus a lot on getting enough sleep, and making sure I’m doing the right things to recover.”
Next up for both teams is Districts this weekend, where the top 30 individuals and top four teams move on to sectionals.
