The Lancer cross country runners have won another invitational, this time winning the Paul Enke Invitational in Sioux Passage. They only had 36 (1+2+4+10+19) points, a 73 point difference between second place Eureka.

The Lancers had three runners in the top five, four runners in the top ten, and six runners in the top 20. In first place was Tommy Laarman with a time of 17:56.80, in second was Harrison Brown with a time of 18:01.00, in fourth was Nassim Oufattole with 18:09.80, and in tenth was Nathan Reed with 18:41.00.

Jacob Nickerson, who is usually the sixth runner, was the fifth runner in this invitational. He finished in 20th place.

“Most of the time when I’m the fifth runner that means that Austin is out, so that is a lot of pressure on my shoulders to not blow too many points for the team,” Nickerson said.

He also mentioned that there was big pressure to win state again this year, and said, “They’ve won twice and as I said we want to go for the three-peat, so there is a lot of pressure on us right now.”

The next meet is the Hancock Invitational at Jefferson Barracks. The meet is on Sept. 24 and starts at 9 a.m.
