Sports Involvement: Drake has seen success at Lafayette after transferring from Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. While wrestling in the 157 and 165 weight classes for Lafayette, Drake has earned a 22-6 record, according to TrackWrestling.com. Notably, Drake has placed first at the Lafayette “Fred Ross” Tournament and second at several other tournaments.
What are your greatest accomplishments this season?
“I would say winning Fred Ross. That was my first ever in-season high school tournament that I’ve won,” Drake said
What was difficult about the transition from your old school to Lafayette?
“I would say moving away from most of my family but coming here and all my teammates and coaches made it a good move and everything worked out,” Drake said.
What is different about this team from last teams you have wrestled for?
“This team has winning experience. My last school, they were good, but Lafayette has really good wrestlers and great coaches, so they help me get better as a wrestler here,” Drake said.
What motivates you to wrestle?
“I want to wrestle in college. Playing Spike ball and the guys around me also motivate me to try my best everyday at practice,” Drake said.
What is your favorite wrestling moment?
“I would say wrestling with my uncle for three years in Indiana. He’s a grade above me and he’s like an older brother to me,” Drake said.
Who is your role model?
“My stepdad is my role model because he works hard everyday and he loves what he does so I take that from him,” Drake said.
What are your future plans after high school?
“I want to go to college. I’m not sure what I want to study yet but I want to wrestle,” Drake said.
