Junior Dylan Roth reaches 100 wins, hockey wins Battle of 109

Boys Basketball
The Lancers played at Holley Hall at Kirkwood high school with a loss of 59-42 on Jan. 3 making the overall record 5-7. Senior Cooper Williams scored five points and senior Matt Haefner scored 20 points. Starting off the week, the Lancers will play against the Wentzville Eagles at home on Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. Ending the week, the Lancers will play the Parkway West Longhorns away from home on Jan. 12 at 7 p.m.
Girls Basketball
The Lady Lancers played the Kirkwood Pioneers with a loss of 41-33 on Jan. 3 at Kirkwood High School. Kicking off the week, the Lady Lancers will play Webster Groves at home on Jan. 10 at 5:30 p.m. Ending the week, the Lady Lancers will face the Parkway Central Colts at Parkway Central on Jan. 12 at 5:30 p.m.
Hockey
Lafayette played rival school Eureka in the Battle of 109 at the Centene Ice Center on Jan. 7. The team beat the Wildcats 4-1 and won the trophy and the title of the Battle of 109 winners. Junior Greyson Eble scored twice during the game.
Girls Swimming and Diving
The Lancers will face the Marquette Mustangs for a home meet Jan. 10 at 4:30 p.m. for a home meet.
Boys Wrestling
The Fred Ross Invitational boys and girls wrestling tournament occurred on Jan. 7 at Lafayette. Junior Dylan Roth reached 100 wins against Davis Joiner from Lebanon and helped the team win the tournament. Their dual went into overtime, and Roth took the win 10-8.
“I knew it was kind of close and I didn’t really think about that I was more worried about just having fun,” Roth said. “It felt great having everyone support me and seeing everyone there and all my coaches. It was an indescribable feeling honestly.”
Freshman Calum Brown placed first along with juniors Dylan Roth and Andrew Wier. Sophomore Aiden Schoen placed 2nd as well as seniors Hunter Song and Gavin Shoulders. The Lancers will play the Edwardsville Tigers for an away meet at their school Jan. 11 at 6:30 p.m.
Girls Wrestling
Over the Jan. 7-8 weekend, the Lancers finished fifth out of 26 teams in the Fred Ross Invitational. Seniors Dashiya Houston and Jayla Jones placed second along with junior Toby Goertz and sophomore Hannah Henderson. Junior Maddie Johnson and freshman Layla Gardner placed third, and sophomore Aaliyah Grammer placed fifth. The Lancers will face the Edwardsville Tigers for an away meet at their school on Jan. 11 at 6:30 p.m. Ending the week, the Lancers will be in the Sherri Lance Tournament against Summit on Jan. 13 at 3:30 p.m.
