Boys Cross Country:
The Lancers went to Fayetteville, Arkansas to participate in the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival on Oct. 2. The Lancers came in 14th place, with 465 points total, and senior Nikolas Malek placed 40th with a time of 15:58.10.”Our travel meet was a lot of fun and I think it was great practice for state. Getting the practice now [for state] is important. Overall, I think this meet was great experience racing a big competitive race in another state,” senior captain Bross Miller said.

Girls Cross Country:
For their most recent meet, the Lady Lancers also traveled to Arkansas for the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival on Oct. 2. The girls Lancers placed 10th overall. Junior Grace Tyson placed fourth overall with a time of 18:03.50. Junior Elissa Barnard placed 34th with a time of 19:10.50, while her sister, sophomore Natalie Barnard, placed 37th with a time of 19:13.50. The next meet for the Lady Lancers will be on Oct. 16 at the Suburban Conference Meet at McNair Park.

Field Hockey:
On Sept. 27, the Lady Lancers played a close match against Ladue which went into overtime. Lafayette eventually lost, 4-3. On Sept. 29, the field hockey team lost again to St. Joseph’s Academy, 4-1. Despite the two losses, the team finished the week strong on Oct. 2 winning 3-1 in a game against Marquette. Sophomore Olivia Williams now leads the team, and is seventh in the division, with 10 goals and seven assists. The next home game is on Oct. 8 against Kirkwood.

Football:
On Oct. 1, the Lancers played their Homecoming game against Marquette and lost, 25-6. Lafayette took an early lead in the first quarter after sophomore Zae Jones scored a touchdown on a 47-yard pass from senior Brandon Keen, but the Lancers were unable to score again. Then, the Mustangs scored five unanswered touchdowns, four of which took place in the fourth quarter. This was the last home game of the regular season for the Lancers, and they will play next at Ladue on Oct. 8.

Girls Golf:
The Lady Lancers beat Marquette, 138-145, at Forest Hill Country Club on Sept. 28. Freshman Abby Surber and senior Grace Stafford had the lowest scores of nine-hole match with 31 and 34 strokes respectively. Continuing on their path of victory, the team took first at the Yellow Pool Suburban Conference Championships with a total score of 330, beating Marquette by 9 strokes. Once again finding herself in the top, Surber shot a 75, the second best score of the championship. Next up, the team will compete in the Rockwood Quad at Crescent Farms on Oct. 4 at noon.

Hockey:
In the Quarterfinals of the Marquette pre-season tournament on Sept. 26, the Lancers lost to Oakville, 4-1. Senior Luke Carrico had the only goal of the game. Despite the loss, Carrico appreciates the tournament for how it prepared the team for season. “It prepped us in a positive way because we played a few games to develop our chemistry on the ice,” Carrico said. “It got us to see what we had to work with. It gave the younger guys confidence as they got to experience the game at a faster pace. We improved as the tournament went on and I’m expecting a very well season from us.”

Boys Soccer:
This week, the Lancers fell to both Rockwood Summit and MICDS 2-1. In the Summit game on Sept. 28, the only Lancer goal was scored by sophomore Blake Klostermann, his third goal of the season, which earned him the spot of the third highest goal-scorer on the team. In the MICDS game on Sept. 29, sophomore Aidan Nemnich scored his first goal of the season in the first half. The Lancers battled to keep their lead over MICDS, but ultimately fell to them in the second half, putting them at a 7-8 record. This upcoming week, the Lancers take on Parkway West on Oct. 4 at 4:30 p.m.

Softball:
The Lady Lancers beat Hazelwood West on Sept. 27, 10-0 with freshman Abby Carr pitching the shutout with nine strikeouts. On the team’s Senior Night, they lost in a close game against St. Joseph’s Academy on Sept 28, with the final score being 5-4. However, they bounced back on Sept. 29 with a landslide 12-0 victory against Lindbergh . Senior Kaley Adzick and sophomore Addyson Jones led the team with four RBIs each and Carr pitched another shutout.

Boys Swimming:
The Lancers faced off against the North Point Grizzlies and the Liberty (Wentzville) High School Eagles on Sept. 16. Ultimately, the Lancers gained a victory with a total of 170 points compared to the North Point’s 36 points and the Liberty’s 100 points.

Girls Tennis:
The varsity girls tennis team lost to Parkway Central on Sept. 27, 8-1, followed by another loss to Cor Jesu on Sept. 28, also 8-1. However, they redeemed themselves at the Districts on Oct. 2, where senior Thrisha Kosaraju and junior Saanvi Gudreddi and won in doubles and now are headed to the State Tournament in Springfield. The team is going to have a long week, playing Team Districts from Oct. 4-7.

Girls Volleyball:
On Sept. 28, girls volleyball took on and defeated St. Joseph’s Academy with a final score of 3-0 with sophomore Allison Risley leading the team with 12 kills and junior Jordyn Lochmann and freshman Maya Witherspoon each having six kills throughout the set. The following night, they faced off against St. Dominic and defeated them as well with a final score of 3-1. Against St. Dominic, the team had 10 total aces and junior Audrey Savacool and Witherspoon led the team with four apiece. The team’s next game will be away at Rockwood Summit on Oct. 5.
